The Gangsters of the 1920's
George Moran- was the new leader of the North Side Gang. He was jailed three times before he was 21. His main rival was Al Capone, because Capone killed his old leader. He tried to kill Capone two times and went after him as much as he could by burning down his night clubs, taking his liquor supplies, and murdered anyone close to Capone. When Capone finally decided he had enough he had his gang dress as police officers and raid Moran's warehouse. They told Moran's men to stand with their hands up facing the wall and then raided the men with gunfire. Luckily for Moran he was not at the warehouse when this occurred. That day is now known as the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre.
John Dillinger -was a thief who was a leader of a gang that terrorized the midwest. He killed ten men and wounded seven. He robbed banks and police arsenals. He also staged three jail breaks. In his first robbery he pleaded guilty like his father told him to. The court sentenced him a joint sentence of 2-14 years and 10-20 years. He was stunned by the harshness and became a tortured and bitter man in prison. When he was paroled after serving eight and a half years he robbed a bank. The cops took him in to await his trial. He then escaped prison and then went on to start his rein of terror onto the midwest.
